Coming Soon: New Name + More (January 31st, 2008 // 3:17pm)

My apologies for the lack of updates. I have one post completely written up and saved (as a draft), and a very long guide I wrote regarding add-ons and setting up your own UI about 80% complete, but I’ve been refraining from posting them as I’ve decided to rename my blog to something more… WoW-ish. This name was supposed to be temporary for just a few day.

I didn’t expect it to take me too long to come up with a decent name, but somehow I’ve managed to hit a complete mental block in this area. And until I rename my blog, I’m holding back a bit with posts, as I anticipate there may be some confusion with the website and RSS feed URLs, and am trying to minimize any confusion.

So expect a new name shortly, and closely following that the two posts I mentioned above (to begin with). Thanks for putting up with me, =P

On the WoW side of things, my druid Qz has hit level 60, and is now in Outlands. This is my second character to reach Outlands, and I’m having an absolute blast out there. There’s something fun about the transition from making a few silver (and a few thousand exp) per quests to getting a few gold (and tens of thousands of exp). Plus, the items are very suddenly becoming a significant upgrade. I’m also currently at the point where I’m starting to debate whether Qz will become a Feral druid at 70, or a Resto druid. I was originally leaning strongly towards the Feral side, but am currently leaning towards Resto. Only time (and playing experience) will tell, I guess.

Cartographer_RoutesOn a bright note though, I was preemptively accepted into one of the server’s top raiding guilds for when I hit level 70. I have a bunch of friends in the guild who used to raid with my mage, and vouched for my ability and playstyle. I was placed in the “alt” guild they have for now while I level, and will be moved up once I gear up and familiarize myself with the class and its playstyle (whether that ends up being Resto or Feral). Though they’ve been strongly hinting that they need a Resto druid a lot more than they need a Feral druid.

I’ve also picked up two new add-ons this week. The first one is called Innervator (download), and it assists you in using Innervate at the smartest times. Phaelia from Resto4Life wrote a great post describing it. The second add-on I picked up is called Cartographer_Routes (Wiki, Download). It was designed for miners, herbalists, and fishers who mine/herb/fish a certain area. Given a zone (Blade’s Edge Mountains, for example), Cartographer_Routes will “link” up all the nodes you have in that area. At the press of a button, it will design and optimize a path for you to follow that will take you by all known nodes. Do note, however, that it requires you to use a node-tracking addon, such as the Gatherer series, or the Cartographer_ series (Cartographer_Mining, Cartographer_Herbalism, etc.). Give it a try!

(Again, it seems I’ve hit a wall with this naming thing. If any of you guys have any suggestions, or even a hint of an idea of a direction I could go, feel free to send me an e-mail or leave a comment. Everything and anything is appreciated!)
