Hi! =)
Welcome to Omen of Clarity. I’m Elad Shahar, and Omen of Clarity is my personal World of Warcraft blog. I’m currently 20 years old, and am majoring in Computer Science at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. I’m a freelance web developer and software engineer. I also like to assist game developers by beta testing their content, and have tested materials for companies such as EA™, Joost™, and Cerulean Studios™. I currently hold a job at my university teaching kids (6th to 8th graders) how to make video games.
As for WoW, I play on the Horde side on the Anub’arak realm. I’m an avid theorycrafter, and also enjoy developing WoW add-ons in my free time. I’m also addicted to add-ons, and average 200+ on at any one time, even though I clean my add-ons out every few weeks.
I started playing WoW in June of ‘07, and started with a Troll Mage (at the recommendation of a friend) on Aerie Peak, and found the frost spec to my liking. I got him to 70 in about a month (AoE grinding ftw), and specced him as a raid frostie (10/0/51). I farmed for my full Frozen Shadoweave set, and the full Spellstrike set. I studied the game’s mechanics intently (probably why I love theorycrafting so much now), and was one of the few who realized the importance of spell hit. Using my knowledge, I was able to top DPS charts during most raids, despite my frost spec. However, I grew bored of playing a mage and became addicted to alts before quitting WoW in August.
The next January (2008), however, I decided to start playing again, when my group of friends all started playing as well. One of my alts was a Druid named Qz (two letter names are where it’s at), and I found that I had an absolute blast playing him and leveling him up, unlike my Mage which I found tedious and more chore-like. I then decided to retire my Mage for now, and switch my main to my Druid, who I absolutely loved. I also started reading WoW blogs around the time I returned to WoW, and found myself pulled to the Druid community, which seemed kind, helpful, and really just the type of community that I want to be part of. It is this that made me name this blog Omen of Clarity.
I quit the game a few months later, only to come back in December shortly after the release of Wrath of the Lich King. I transferred my Mage to a friend’s server, and have been playing with them on my mage ever since. I enjoy raiding end game, hate PvP, and have fun hanging out with friends I’ve made in the game.
I hope to use this blog as a way to connect to other WoW players, and hope to be able to help people with useful tutorials and guides. Most importantly, I hope to join the great community of WoW bloggers that exists, and learn from the combined knowledge pool of all.
